There are lot's of good reasons anyone would want in real estate but in the end you need to make the right decision for your own needs and passions.
The reasons I like real estate investing (besides - family history), are because I like the idea of you are buying something substantial - something you can go in person and see and know it is there. I also like the idea that I can help other people live their lives in a safe place they can call home, and in return they help me by paying me rental income to help me live my life. It is also just a smart investment. I can't tell you how many times I have heard stories from people my parent's age tell me how they bought a house for $15,000 and now it is work $600,000.
So you have decided that you really are interested in investing in real estate, but you don't know where to get started. I recommend asking yourself a few key questions to get you started:
Let's get started with:
What type of real estate do I want to invest in?
There are a ton of ways to invest in real estate - a lot depend on if you want to be a passive or active investor
Passive Investor : Give someone else the money to invest in real estate on your behalf
Types of investing you might want to consider are:
Active investor : You grab the bull by the horn and dedicate time and most times money and choose when and where and how you invest.
Your goal is to be a strategic investor and find great deals that bring in the cash-flow or equity growth you are looking for. This involves actively looking at where is the right location to invest in, getting funding and getting the full benefits and pride of owning real estate.
The list of investing for active investors is so much larger than it is for passive - but we recommend you decide on what feels most comfortable for you:
Yes you are making an investment in real estate so you can bring income to make a better lifestyle for you and those you love, but you won't be motivated to keep at it if you don't find that real estate investing niche that you find interesting and fits with your needs and financial goals.
I grew up with my Grandfather and my Aunt both doing Real Estate Investing, so it's in my blood.
